Acrylic on canvas with relief elements·October 2026
A gaze can meet us and still keep us outside.
A dark eye stretches across a densely textured field of teal, gold, violet, and red. Its green centre catches the light. Pale points project from its edges like lashes sharpened into small defences, while thick ridges of colour surround the smoother, swirling interior.
The pointed border makes the encounter feel guarded. We can approach the surface, follow its folds, and meet the eye directly, yet its gaze reveals little about what lies behind it. There is a particular distance here: the closeness of receiving someone’s full attention while remaining a stranger to them.
